Synopsis

Rumors of the supernatural overrun Kamome Academy, namely the "Seven Mysteries." One of these mysteries is the legend of Hanako-san, the ghost of a young girl residing in the girl's bathroom on the third floor of the old school building, who is said to grant any wish her summoner desires. First-year high school student Nene Yashiro daringly summons Hanako-san in desperate need of love, but the Hanako that appears before her is a boy!

After Hanako-kun claims that he has no magical items of use, Nene tries various ways to get noticed by her crush. With her desperation reaching its peak, she gets into trouble after consuming a mermaid scale, which turns her into a fish. Hanako-kun rescues her, binding their fates together in the process; in return for this aid, Nene must become his assistant. Now entangled in the supernatural realm, Nene soon discovers that there's much more to the school's Seven Mysteries than basic rumors.

Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun has been published digitally in English as Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun by Yen Press since August 29, 2017, and in print since January 28, 2020. The series has also been simulpub by Yen Press. Square Enix has published the series digitally through Manga UP! Want a fun, compelling story to binge on? Want to enjoy eye pleasing art you can stare at all day? Want to see a good mix of character development and relatability? Want to enjoy every frame and panel in this manga? Well, if so, I recommend taking a peek at this manga because personally, all of this criteria has fulfilled me.

Pretty generic. If you've read other supernatural manga then you've read this one already. It paints itself as being dark and gloomy but in the end it's as lighthearted and DBZ.

Art 10/10

Holy f this manga is on the level of ther masterpieces like Oyasumi Punpun. While it does not delve into realism, it's typical manga style is seasoned with a style that is more stylized.

Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun is a manga that is beloved by a bunch of my friends in real life and online, so when I heard it was getting an anime in 2020, I let my curiosity get the better of me by reading it before seeing the adaptation itself.

Excuse me if the review is poorly written compared to my other ones, I just wrote this on the fly without preparing well like the others (since I wanted to avoid spoiling much detail to the story). These are just brief thoughts.
